Innovative Health Initiative: discover the topics of the upcoming Calls 14 and 15

The Innovative Health Initiative (IHI) has published the draft topic texts for its upcoming Calls 14 and 15, which are expected to launch in early 2027. This early publication gives interested organisations additional time to identify partners, build consortia and prepare their proposals.

Both calls will address major challenges in healthcare innovation and offer new opportunities for collaboration between industry, research organisations, healthcare providers and other stakeholders.

IHI Call 14 – One-stage submission

Call 14 will follow a standard one-stage submission procedure and will cover four topics:

• New non-animal approaches to accelerate drug discovery and development.

• More predictive approaches for the clinical development of personalised health technologies.

• Optimising care pathways through integrated, scalable and patient-centric systems.

• Improving manufacturing and clinical centre readiness for Advanced Therapy Medicinal Products (ATMPs).

  
  

IHI Call 15 – Two-stage submission

Call 15 will follow a standard two-stage submission procedure and will focus on two topics:

• Developing an EU framework to ensure equitable patient access to compassionate use.

• Enhancing decision-making on surrogate endpoint evidence to improve patient outcomes.

Get a head start on proposal preparation

The draft topics are currently under consultation with IHI's States' Representatives Group (SRG) and Science and Innovation Panel (SIP). Their content may therefore change significantly before the official launch of the calls.

Nevertheless, interested organisations are encouraged to start preparing their project proposals, identifying potential partners and building their consortia ahead of the launch.
